Wynton Marsalis leads the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra into the Farquhar Auditorium on Wednesday for its first concert in the provincial capital since 2016.
Marsalis, 61, is a living legend — his 1997 work, Blood on the Fields, is the first jazz composition ever to be awarded the Pulitzer Prize — but the members of his 15-piece jazz ensemble are in step talent-wise with their manager and artistic director. The lineup includes Kenny Rampton (trumpet), Vincent Gardner (trombone), Sherman Irby (saxophones), and Obed Calvaire (drums), among others.
Showtime is 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $134 from the UVic Ticket Centre (250-721-8480) or
The Farquhar Auditorium is located at the University of Victoria, 3800 Finnerty Rd.
