Texas trio ZZ Top is starting its 2025 Canadian tour in Victoria at the Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre, promoter Live Nation announced Tuesday.
The rock legends stop here on June 1, the first of 11 dates in sa国际传媒 on their Elevation Tour.
The show will feature opening act The Wallflowers, which is fronted by Bob Dylan’s son, Jakob. The Los Angeles-based group has not performed in Victoria since an early 1990s performance at the former Harpo’s Cabaret. The Grammy Award winners were due to make their long-anticipated local return in 2014, for a performance at the Rock the Shores festival, but that was cancelled due to what was reported as a scheduling conflict.
ZZ Top is no stranger to these parts, however, having performed at the Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre four times to date. The group’s 2022 appearance at the Blanshard Street arena was its first on local soil without bassist Dusty Hill, who died that year after more than 50 years alongside singer-guitarist Billy Gibbons and drummer Frank Beard.
The band’s longtime guitar tech, Elwood Francis, has taken over on bass for the Sharp Dressed Man and Gimme All Your Lovin’ hitmakers and will be with Hill and Beard when they celebrate 55 years of playing together.
Tickets go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. through the Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre box office (250-220-7777), and .
