The free community festival is returning this year and will close down a portion of Water Street for an afternoon of music and revelry.
On Aug. 31 from 3 to 7 p.m., the Gastown BIA in partnership with local restaurants, businesses, and Low Tide Properties will hold live performances and activities such as an oyster shucking competition hosted by the Portside Pub between other restaurants in the neighbourhood.
There will also be a free floral bouquet station and picnic tables set up along the street for attendees to enjoy takeout and Monarca and Guilt & Co. will have cocktail patios in Carrall Alley.
“Meet Me in Gastown is a major highlight for our community during the summer,” says Harmony Cornwell, Director of Property Management and Operations at Low Tide Properties in a recent press release. “This event showcases all that Gastown has to offer and brings our local businesses, residents, and visitors together to celebrate the historic and vibrant atmosphere that Gastown holds.”
Local artists will perform in Maple Tree Square and at stations along Water and Abbott streets with a roving horn band moving around the festival and a finale performance from the Vancouver Metropolitan Orchestra to close the evening.
Lastly, Deville Coffee (333 Seymour St) will be giving away Meet Me in Gastown tote bags with purchases while supplies last.
