Douglas College in New Westminster is launching a new kinesiology post-degree diploma program in September 2024.

A New Westminster-based school will soon be the first post-secondary in sa国际传媒 to offer courses that help aspiring and current kinesiologists meet upcoming industry standards.

Douglas College is launching its new kinesiology post-degree diploma (PDD) in September this year.

According to a release, the one-year, 10-course program will be the province's only credential that "aligns directly" with the ever-changing requirements of the  (BCAK).

"Our instructors are practicing kinesiologists who ensure our students are prepared to demonstrate their skills in context, not just on a résumé," said Dominique Falls, Douglas College's sport science department chair, about the diploma.

"The integrated work placements connect students with potential future employers early on in their educational journeys, making them job-ready upon graduation."

The BCAK states, as of Jan. 1, 2025, all of its applicants will need to pass a Professional Competency Exam to earn membership. DC's new PDD is set to help prepare students for the exam, as well as work experience and beyond.

Among the courses include 100 hours of hands-on experience, exercise prescription, interdisciplinary care and professional writing.

"The dynamic curriculum empowers students to become sa国际传媒’s next generation of leading kinesiology professionals," added program coordinator Karine Hamm.

"I have no doubt that our grads will shape the future of kinesiology in the province."
