Contrary to what its name might suggest, the aim of the Coast Collective's upcoming event is not to hang artists out to dry.

Rather, the Clothesline Art Show is an opportunity for lesserknown creators to string up their work for a creative outdoor display.

"We represent almost 200 artists at any given time," says Terri Rodstrom, co-founder of the Coast Collective, an artist-run co-operative gallery located on an 11-acre property near Esquimalt Lagoon. "Some artists don't quite fit into what we do or they're too new to do it.

"This is a way to be involved with us, for anybody to share and sell their work."

The event will feature the wares of about 45 artists or groups, including painters, sculptors and glass workers.

"By no means does it mean that these [pieces of art] are not as strong as what we usually get," Rodstrom notes.

Guitarist Brad Prevedoros will set the scene with soothing Latin-infused acoustic music.

Food vendors will include the Galloping Goose Sausage Company and Baba's Bakery.

Also, local rescue groups will run demonstrations to raise awareness about animal welfare.
