Admission: Free

Why: Acclaimed children's writer Kit Pearson will meet the public and sign copies of her new book And Nothing But the Truth on Saturday. The novel, a sequel to her 2011 book The Whole Truth, follows the continuing adventures of Polly, a girl growing up near Victoria in the 1930s. Pearson is a Governor General's Award-winning author.

What: Toopy and Binoo and the Marshmallow Moon

Where: Royal Theatre

When: Sunday, 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.

Tickets: $33.50

Why: Youngsters across the country have warmed to the adventures of a high-pitched rat named Toopy and his best friend, a nonspeaking cat named Binoo. The characters will come to life for two shows this weekend, complete with songs co-written by Juno winner Norman Foote. Note: Tickets for the matinee show are close to being sold-out.

What: Remembering Rosie: A Tribute to Rosemary Clooney

Why: What better way to tell a life story than through song and dialogue? This one's dedicated to American singer-actress Rosemary Clooney. Chime in on her '50s hits like ComeOnaMyHouse and Mambo Italiano before moving through Clooney's big band years, lounge act with 4 Girls 4 and quarter-century with the Concord Jazz Label. Lorraine Foster and Patricia Duval were solo vocalists when they met 35 years ago, but they'll join forces for the first time here, with support from the Peter Dent Quartet.
