FILM

What: Eco Warriors

Where: David Lam Auditorium, UVic

When: Thursday, 7: 30 p.m. Admission by donation ($10 suggested)

Why: The title of this chilling documentary from producer Jennifer Pickford and the Red Octopus Collective refers to environmental activists who now find themselves being termed "eco-terrorists" by right-wing politicians, law enforcers and big business, with potentially harsh repercussions. Featured activists who resist such labels in their ongoing protests against perceived crimes against the environment include Portland's Tre Arrow, Courtenay's Raging Grannies member Ruth Masters, 91, and Vancouver Island Community Forest Action Network's Zoe Blunt, who will participate in a Q&A with Pickford.
