Dear Dr. Roach: I was diagnosed with atrial fibrillation in July 2017. A week after that, I had an MRI that showed I’d had a ministroke and probably several others in the past. I love ribeye steak, and eat it maybe two or three times a year.

Dear Dr. Roach: My husband’s doctor is telling him to have his gallbladder removed because sometimes he has pain in his right side.

Dear Dr. Roach: I get horrible fever blisters when I go on any tropical vacation and am exposed to lasting sun. These blisters develop on my lower lip. I have tried sunscreen, but nothing has worked.

Dear Dr. Roach: I am 69 and take medications for blood pressure and cholesterol, as well as plenty of vitamins. I have had many medical conditions (e.g., Meniere’s disease and lower back pain) that eventually were resolved.

Dear Dr. Roach: I received the first dose of Shingrix this week and had pretty severe side- effects, though in the range of what can be expected: high fever (101.5), intense shivering, a severe headache and 12 hours of extreme fatigue.

My recent negative column about injection sites in prison and elsewhere triggered a rapid response.

Dear Dr. Roach: I have been taking a multivitamin for years, and now one of my physicians wants me to take a vitamin that has no vitamin D or calcium. He just removed kidney stones in two separate procedures. I can’t find any vitamins like that. D.A.

Dear Dr. Roach: I recently was diagnosed with kidney cancer, and my wife is now getting treatment for breast cancer. Would cooking on a nonstick skillet have caused the cancers? My wife was using one for quite some time, but not anymore. B.R.

Dear Dr. Roach: I am 62 years of age and in excellent health. I run or hike three or more miles on most days, road bike, swim and weight train. I eat sensibly, and I don’t drink, smoke or take drugs.

Dear Dr. Roach: I am a 61-year-old woman in fairly good health except that I have been taking prescription omeprazole once a day for heartburn for at least 10 years, if not more.
