ARTS AND CULTURE

East meets west at India Mela, a celebration of culture hosted by the India sa国际传媒 Cultural Association this weekend.

Enjoy two days of classical Indian and modern Bollywood dances and music by professional and budding semi-professional performers on the main stage. Expect to see Gidda, Bhangra, Garba/Dhandia dances and energetic entertainment from other multicultural communities.

Sate your appetite with a menu of mouthwatering Indian food, watch a fashion show, browse arts and crafts offerings or indulge in henna body painting and palm readings.

When not watching the dancing, children will be entertained by balloon animals, face painting and clowns.

Admission is free. The festival runs 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at Centennial Square (Douglas Street and Pandora Avenue). For more information, go to iccavictoria.com.
