A portrait by French painter Edouard Manet will stay in Britain after a campaign raised nearly eight million pounds ($12.4 million) to buy it.
Portrait of Mademoiselle Claus will be shown at the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford. It was sold to a foreign buyer last year, but an export ban meant it could be bought by a U.K. public institution for a quarter of its value.
