A black-tie gala promises to bring local fashion to the forefront, while raising funds for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation of sa国际传媒 and Yukon.

Essential Elements of Style, an inaugural event featuring creations from local designers and boutiques, hits the Atrium Sunday.

"We're trying to elevate the fashion industry in Victoria, all the while raising money for a cause that is really close to [co-chair] Christopher [Castle]'s heart, as well as my own," said co-chairwoman Louise Denis, who is also director of the Alchemy Foundation. "We know women who are survivors and women who are going through the therapy right now."

Kick back with a glass of bubbly and nibble on hors d'oeuvres while watching fresh, up-and-coming fashions by designers and boutiques in Victoria. There is also a silent auction where attendees can bid on a trip for two to Seattle, a football autographed by the sa国际传媒 Lions, sketches by artist Doug Fraser and more.

"We are always running away to Vancouver and Seattle to buy fashion, while there are beautiful clothes here and wonderful shops and designers that we just don't know about," said Denis. "So the concept is to raise awareness of the fashion in Victoria and also support an extremely good cause, as far as we're concerned."

Tickers are $125 (which includes a generous swag bag) online or from Alchemy Hair Design and Spa. The show starts at 7 p.m. Sunday in the Atrium building, 800 Yates St.
