Treat your taste buds to culinary magic this weekend at the second annual Sip and Savour Saltspring.

The two-day festival of local food and wine features farmers, chefs and vintners from Saltspring, the Gulf Islands, Cowichan Valley and Saanich Peninsula coming together to showcase their wares.

"This event has been created with one goal - to showcase the bounty and variety of food and wine produced on Saltspring Island and in our region," says Robert Steinbach, founder of the event.

The festival kicks off Saturday with the Saturday Market on Saltspring (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.).

Expect to see it brimming with fresh local fruit, vegetables and grains from a fall harvest.

The culinary journey continues with Saltspring chefs and sa国际传媒 wineries hosting wine-pairing dinners. Participating Saltspring restaurants include: Auntie Pestos Caf脙漏, Market Place Caf脙漏 and Rock Salt Restaurant. Dinners start at $55.

The event continues Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. as the Harbour House Hotel's Oceanview Orchard is transformed into a foodie's dream grazing experience, with guests sipping sa国际传媒 wines and savouring local and regional foods. This event is also $55 per person.

Sip and Savour Saltspring is presented by the Saltspring Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Centre. For more information, go to sipandsavoursaltspring.com.
