Travellers to Kenya will face fewer fees when they visit the African nation.

Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta has announced a range of new incentives to encourage tourism.

聽The initiatives include changes to Kenyan visa regulations and reduced park fees.

Among the incentives initiated by the Ministry of Tourism is the elimination of the usual $50 US fee for visa applications for children younger than 16, effective Feb. 1.

Additionally, the original Kenyan park fees of $90 US will be reduced to $60.

As part of the Charter Incentive Scheme, charter airlines that travel to the coastal cities of Mombasa and Malindi will now be able to land without charge.

Charter airlines will also be given a $30 US subsidy per passenger brought to the region.

The scheme will continue until June 2018.

President Kenyatta also announced a number of coastal infrastructure improvements that will ease travel to and around the Kenyan coast, including expansion of JKIA and Malindi airports, construction of new roads to access the south coast and the addition of two ferries.
