Universal sets box-office record

With $1.128 billion, Universal Pictures has already set a new record for itself at the North American box office, the studio says. The box office through Monday reached $1.128 billion, besting the $1.127 billion it made in all of 2008.

With $1.128 billion, Universal Pictures has already set a new record for itself at the North American box office, the studio says.

The box office through Monday reached $1.128 billion, besting the $1.127 billion it made in all of 2008. And happened despite the failure of Battleship.

Ted, Snow White and the Huntsman and Dr. Seuss' The Lorax were the studio's top 2012 cash cows. The studio still has four more films coming this year.
