For nearly 25 years, the Bridges for Women Society has provided employment services for women with a background of trauma and abuse.

For nearly 25 years, the Bridges for Women Society has provided employment services for women with a background of trauma and abuse. Bridges strives to ensure that every woman affected by violence or abuse will have the economic security to sustain herself and her family in terms of safety, health and freedom. The Bridges board of directors is a group of active community members with a diverse range of education and professional backgrounds. Could you be one of them? Bridges is currently seeking board members able to bring knowledge, expertise and interests to further enhance Bridges' ongoing work. Board members should be able to commit to two years and attend monthly board meetings.

Training will be provided. If this isn't the role for you, Bridges is also seeking a weekly Beat the Blues breakfast cook. Contact Bridges to learn more about helping other women in the community. Please call 250-385-7410.

Spanish Tutor: Victoria Youth Custody Services is looking for a Spanish tutor to assist a youth who wants to learn to speak Spanish. Commitment is a onehour weekly visit and training is provided. Call 250-708-2207.

CD Sales Purchaser: Early Music Society of the Islands needs a volunteer to research CDs to purchase from a distributor, have them shipped and then deliver them for sale at concerts. Schedule is flexible and requires one hour maximum per month.

Call 250-391-9480. Hula Dance Helper: Mount St. Mary Hospital seeks a helper to assist with hula dance classes on Wednesday mornings, 10 a.m.-noon, beginning in September. No experience is necessary. Help seniors enjoy active living. A three-month commitment would be appreciated. Call 250-480-3118.

Senior Assistants: Baptist Housing Care Homes Society seeks volunteers to assist seniors with a variety of activities, including bingo, exercises, manicures and bus outings. Training is provided for this weekly commitment, and various other positions are also available.

Help with setting policies, advancing the strategic plan and acting as an ambassador. People from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Commitment is one to two years.

Commitment is one year and involves about 16 to 20 hours per month, including meetings and other responsibilities.

Ice Cream Cart: Glenwarren Lodge is looking for a volunteer to make sundaes for residents.
