A fog advisory is continuing for east Vancouver Island and the southern Gulf Islands until about noon.

The Environment sa国际传媒 advisory issued early Thursday also includes Metro Vancouver, the Sunshine Coast and Fraser Valley. Southern Vancouver Island is not included.

Environment sa国际传媒 says a ridge of high pressure over southern sa国际传媒 is creating favourable conditions for dense fog.

Visibility may be significantly and suddenly reduced to near zero, it said.

Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility. Environment sa国际传媒 suggests drivers turn on their lights and maintain a safe following distance.

Fog advisories are issued when near-zero visibility is expected or occurring.

The fog is forecast to lift Thursday afternoon as a frontal system moves into the area.

A similar fog advisory was issued Wednesday for the southern Gulf Islands and east Vancouver Island.
