7-Eleven sa国际传媒 says there has been a confirmed case of COVID-19 at its Ladysmith store.
The company is asking anyone who visited the store from March 5 to March 11 to self-monitor for signs of the illness and seek a medical opinion or call 811 if they have any concerns.
The store has been closed for cleaning and sanitization while staff self-isolates with pay for 14聽days. It is scheduled to reopen April 2.
Ladysmith Mayor Aaron Stone said the situation is 鈥渢roubling鈥 but shows the importance of being aware that COVID-19 can appear anywhere.
鈥淢y message has been that we should all be assuming that it鈥檚 in our community, because I聽think we鈥檇 be foolish if we trick ourselves into thinking we鈥檙e not at risk,鈥 he said. 鈥淎nd I think it鈥檚 a good reminder to everyone to be mindful of social distancing and self-isolate if possible, especially if you鈥檙e sick.鈥
