A 20-year-old cyclist was in critical condition at Victoria General Hospital Thursday after a collision at a Duncan intersection.
"From what we can gather, he went through the stop sign - and then got hit by the truck," said Cpl. Chris Swain, adding that the incident was still under investigation. North Cowichan/ Duncan RCMP responded to the call at 10: 45 a.m. Thursday.
The truck driver didn't sustain any injuries, Swain said. He added that the truck had right of way at the intersection of Moorfield Road and Lane Road.
The cyclist, who wasn't wearing a helmet, was taken to hospital in Duncan before being transported to Victoria where he was being treated for life-threatening injuries.
