A man accused of causing a crash that killed two brothers and left a third paralyzed has been fined $1,500, but the judge in his case did not issue a driving ban.
Ryan Miller might still be banned from driving by the superintendent of motor vehicles for the November 2008 crash in the HOV lane of Highway 1 near the Port Mann bridge.
Earlier this week, Miller, 31, pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention.
Judge Shehni Dossa ruled that the crash occurred because of a momentary lapse in judgment on Miller's part.
The boys were sitting in the third seat of the family van when the collision occurred. Their mother had stopped the vehicle in the HOV lane because of a mechanical problem.
Police say a BMW rammed the vehicle, injuring two adults and killing nine-year-old Andrew Moeller and his six-year-old brother Matthew.
Karl Moeller, then eight, was left paralyzed.
