A driver was hospitalized in stable condition Thursday morning after a pickup truck collided with parked cars and rolled onto its side near Alberni District Secondary School in Port Alberni.
The Port Alberni Fire Department responded to a report of the incident about 7:55 a.m. and had extricated the driver from the vehicle before 8:10 a.m., said Deputy Fire Chief Travis Cross.
sa国际传媒 Emergency Health Services dispatched two ambulances with primary-care paramedics, who provided emergency treatment before taking the patient to hospital.
“An air ambulance also responded but was not needed to transport the patient,” said spokesperson Rachelle Brown.
The school issued a statement saying the crash didn’t involve anyone from the school community.
The statement said the incident happened at a busy time, with people arriving at the school, and staff “appreciated everyone’s patience as we directed traffic on an alternate route.”
The school’s statement expressed gratitude to SPR Traffic Services, “who came and relieved school staff from directing the traffic.”
The scene was cleared at about 9 a.m.
