East meets West at the coast guard's Huron Street base in time for sa国际传媒 Day.

The Quebec-based icebreaker Amundsen is scheduled to arrive tomorrow morning, and will share space with the local icebreaker Sir Wilfrid Laurier for a few days before heading north, said coast guard spokesman Dan Bate.

"It will be leaving for the western Arctic on July 3," he said, adding that the Sir Wilfrid Laurier will follow a few days later.

Having a coast guard vessel here that is based in eastern sa国际传媒 is unusual, Bate said.

"We don't often get visits from ships from other regions."

Bate said the visit from the Amundsen seems especially appropriate during the period around sa国际传媒 Day.

He said it will be like having "a piece of Quebec City" in the harbour.
