An elderly woman is in hospital after being struck by a car at a crosswalk on Hillside Avenue yesterday afternoon. The woman was crossing toward Hillside Shopping Centre at Shakespeare Street around noon when she was hit by a Ford Thunderbird, said Victoria police spokesman Sgt. Grant Hamilton.
The woman, in her late 70s, was taken to hospital with several broken bones but her injuries are non-life-threatening. Police impounded the car in case her condition worsens and further investigation is needed, he said.
