Fire department too distracting for Oak Bay driver

There were no injuries in the two-car collision, but both vehicles sustained significant damage and had to be towed.

A driver who collided with a parked vehicle on Monterey Avenue told police he was “distracted by the fire department” when it happened.

Oak Bay’s fire and police departments are located next to each other on Monterey.

The 70-year-old driver was not injured in the 1:30 p.m. crash on Aug. 20., but both vehicles sustained significant damage and had to be towed.

He was issued a $368 ticket for driving without due care and attention.
