Fire destroyed a log cabin in Langford Friday night as firefighters were hampered by a lack of available water.

Firefighters were called to the log home on the rural Finlayson Arm Road around 6 p.m. The blaze is believed to have started in the roof and spread to the attic.

Crews from the Langford Fire Department tried to tame the flames shooting out from the roof, but their efforts were hampered by lack of nearby fire hydrants in the rural area. Water had to be trucked in from Millstream Road.

The couple inside the home were able to escape uninjured, but had to watch as their home burned to the ground. The cause of the fire is still unknown.
