Philip Goldie, former deputy chief of the Langford Fire Rescue, has died.
Goldie passed away on April 25 at age 86. A post on social media by the fire department said he had lung cancer.
Born in Victoria, Goldie lived on Vancouver Island until his retirement in 2002, when he moved to Oliver.
He was a firefighter for 37 years with Langford Fire as a volunteer and later working his way up to deputy chief.
Goldie was an auto racing enthusiast at Western Speedway and when he wasn’t on the track he was the ambulance attendant for the speedway.
