Parts of Juan de Fuca Provincial Park — including Juan de Fuca trail and backcountry campsites — are closed after recent storms caused “significant damage” to several park areas and infrastructure, the Environment Ministry said Friday.
Closed areas include the Sombrio Beach suspension bridge and Parkinson Trailhead.
China Beach and Second Beach remain open for day use, along with East Sombrio Beach, Botanical Beach and Botany Bay, the ministry said.
Park users are advised to check sa¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ Parks’ website at for updates before visiting Juan de Fuca Provincial Park.
Areas affected by recent heavy rain, wind and flooding will remain closed until further inspections to determine the extent of the damage, next steps and timelines for repairs and reopening, the ministry said.
