A man has been given a week by the Supreme Court of sa¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ to remove defamatory statements and comments posted on the internet about a City of Nanaimo employee.

Dean Leon Propp, of no fixed address, has also been barred from publishing or distributing via the internet or any other means defamatory statements about Dale Burgos, the city’s communications manager.

The order issued Tuesday in court in Nanaimo covers social media, websites and email.

The City of Nanaimo and Burgos together applied to the court for an order to stop Propp’s comments.

Propp was given seven days to take down statements previously posted about Burgos.

He must remove any comments about Burgos that Propp added to his own recordings of May 27 and June 22 council meetings.

Propp said in a court document that he has been exercising freedom of speech.
