There was a heavy police presence in Langford Tuesday evening in response to a person experiencing a mental health crisis.
West Shore RCMP officers and a psychiatric nurse-police officer team with Mobile Integrated Crisis Response responded to a call of a person in a mental-health crisis near Timber View and Spirit Ridge Drive around 5:15 p.m. Tuesday.
The person was not initially co-operative with officers, leading to crisis negotiators and the Vancouver Island Emergency Response Team responding, police said.
Negotiators talked for several hours with the individual, who was eventually apprehended under the Mental Health Act and taken to hospital, police said.
Police left the scene around 9:30 p.m.
