One person was taken to hospital with serious burns after a house fire in Bowser on Wednesday evening.
The blaze in the single-family home on Callow Road, which was reported at about 8:25 p.m., was contained to a bedroom on the second floor, said Bow Horn Bay Fire Department Chief Mark Taylor.
“It was a high-heat fire and there was zero visibility in the room of origin, but we were quickly able to get it under control,” said Fisher.
He added the quick response helped to contain the fire, which could have spread to other buildings in the residential neighbourhood.
The occupants of the home were outside when firefighters arrived. Paramedics took one occupant to hospital suffering from what Fisher said were second-degree facial burns.
A third resident was located and was not home at the time of the fire, he said.
Fisher said the Office of the Fire Commissioner determined the fire was not suspicious. It remains under investigation.
Bow Horn Bay Fire Department has a mutual-aid agreement with departments at Coombs-Hilliers, Dashwood and Qualicum Beach, which all responded. No firefighters were injured.
