A 79-year-old pedestrian was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries Friday after being struck by a Dodge Ram truck while crossing the road at the intersection of Fisgard and Government streets.
Victoria police said the incident happened just after 11 a.m., and the driver remained at the scene and co-operated with investigators.
The intersection was closed for several hours as traffic analysts examined the area.
Government Street was also closed from Pandora Avenue to Herald Street, but reopened by 3 p.m.
Police are asking for anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage from the area around the time of the incident to come forward, and would also like to hear from any witnesses who have not spoken to officers.
