Saanich police are seeking the public's assistance with an unprovoked attack in Hampton Park last week that left a 52-year-old man with a serious head wound.
Two neighbourhood residents were walking through the park toward Tillicum Centre about 10: 45 p.m. on July 25 when they were confronted by four males.
The four males challenged the two men, both in their early 50s, and demanded money.
A 52-year-old man was struck on the side of the head with what is believed to be a baseball bat.
The man's friend called 911. Although multiple police officers and a police dog were sent to the scene, the suspects were not found.
The man, who was bleeding profusely, was taken by ambulance to hospital, where he was treated for a concussion and a three-inch gash that required multiple staples to close.
As the park was very dark, the victims had little information on their attackers, who were last seen walking toward Seaton Street and Regina Avenue.
Police said one of the men described the suspects as being as young as 14, while the other said the group members were in their late teens or early 20s.
