Police release image of man who robbed Nanaimo liquor store at knifepoint

Employees at the University Village liquor store told officers the robber’s face was partially covered when he entered the store, jumped over the counter with a knife and demanded money

Nanaimo RCMP have released a surveillance image of a man who robbed a liquor store at knifepoint on Thursday.

Police got to the scene at the University Village liquor store at 520 Fifth St. within minutes of the 9:45 p.m. robbery but the man had fled.

Employees told officers the robber’s face was partially covered when he entered the store, jumped over the counter with a knife and demanded money.

He left with an undisclosed amount of cash.

A police dog was unable to establish a track for the man.

Police described the robber as five-foot-10 with a medium build, and wearing a black hoodie, a dark-coloured tuque and khaki pants with grey socks covering his hands.
