A man with a 90-day driving prohibition stemming from an impaired-driving incident was arrested by Saanich police Thursday while on the job — as a driver for a delivery company.
The 40-year-old was released with a court date and the work van was impounded for seven days.
The man also had the vehicle he was driving impounded when he received the 90-day prohibition.
Police said the delivery company was allowed to retrieve customers’ packages from the van before the impoundment.
“This arrest sends a strong message to those on our roads,” said Staff Sgt. Doug Cripps, head of the Traffic Safety Unit.
“Driving is a privilege. If you are caught driving impaired, you will lose that privilege, and you must earn it back. There are no shortcuts.”
