A man suspected of drug impairment crashed the BMW he was driving into a parked minivan on Nova Court, near Langford Lake.

West Shore RCMP responded about 8:35 p.m. Sunday and determined a BMW 335X had struck the front end of a parked Kia Carnival. Police obtained surveillance video showing the BMW being driven erratically on the wrong side of the road before the collision.

A field-sobriety test was conducted on the 26-year-old driver. He “performed poorly,” police said, and cannabis was found within his reach inside the vehicle.

The driver was issued a 24-hour driving prohibition and his car was towed and impounded.

He received a $368 ticket for driving without due care and attention, and a $230 ticket for operating a vehicle with cannabis in his possession.

“We thank the witnesses who reported this incident to police right away,” police said in a statement.
