Tahsis voters elect two new councillors

Tahsis voters have filled two vacant seats on their council after a byelection on Saturday.

Brenda Lenahan, a disability rights advocate, topped the polls in the community of about 400 people west of Campbell River with 91 votes.

She founded sa国际传媒 Complex Kids Society, which calls for improved support for children with medically complex needs.

Ryan Moore, a metal fabricator who leads classes at the Tahsis Literacy Society, was second with 66 votes.

Five people ran for the two empty seats, left vacant when Meggan Joseph and Doug Elliot resigned this year.

Joseph relocated to Campbell River. Elliot had been highly critical of the current council.
