Tickets can still be reserved online for a provincial state memorial service for former premier John Horgan at the Q Centre in Colwood on Sunday.

About 350 tickets remained available Friday.

The service will start at 1 p.m. at the Q Centre arena at 1767 Island Hwy., and . Doors will open at 11:45 a.m., and all guests must be seated by 12:45 p.m.

Lt.-Gov. Janet Austin, Premier David Eby and other dignitaries will attend.

Tickets, limited to two per person, can be reserved at and will not be available at the door. Tickets can also be obtained through the Office of Protocol at 250 387-1616.

In lieu of flowers, at the request of the family, attendees are asked to consider making a donation to the Goldstream Food Bank at goldstreamfoodbank.org or a food bank of their choice.

Horgan died at Royal Jubilee Hospital on Nov. 12 after his third bout with cancer since 2008.

He served as premier from 2017 to 2022, before resigning his Langford-Juan de Fuca MLA seat in the spring of 2023.

He was appointed ambassador to Germany in November the same year, but in June 2024, he announced he was on leave from his position after being diagnosed with thyroid cancer. He returned to Victoria and was admitted to Royal Jubilee almost two weeks prior to his death.
