Port Alberni say that two men were injured Tuesday in a midday attack on 4th Avenue.
Police were alerted about 12:05 p.m. about an assault on two people and arrived to find an injured 67-year-old man.
The second victim, a 64-year-old man, was unaccounted for at first but was soon located at West Coast General Hospital.
He had sustained “significant” injuries and was later transported to a hospital outside Port Alberni for further treatment, police said.
After speaking with witnesses and reviewing video footage from area residences and businesses, police arrested a 38-year-old male for aggravated assault and assault.
He was held in custody and later released with several conditions.
The victims and suspect are believed to be known to each other and police said there are no ongoing public-safety concerns.
