A pleasure craft struck rocks and was stranded off the Sidney waterfront last night, prompting an emergency response from the Canadian Coast Guard.
The Victoria Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre said the 10.8-metre boat struck the rocks at the north end of the Port Sidney Marina at about 8 p.m.
The vessel's operator and only occupant was rescued by a boater who spotted the mishap from shore.
The stranded vessel was not immediately leaking fuel but coast guard remained on scene at press time.
