Victoria Fire trucks responded to a possible fire in downtown Victoria on Tuesday morning.
A report of a possible structure fire at the Telus building at 826 Yates St., between Quadra and Blanshard streets, came in about 7:30 a.m.
Given the sensitive equipment in the building, the fire department took all precautions, sending six trucks and crews, said Victoria Fire acting battalion chief Rich Fryer.
There was no visible fire or smoke, but Victoria firefighters could smell something resembling burnt rubber. The problem is suspected to be a small issue with the building’s heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system, which is being reviewed.
