Victoria police arrest shoplifting suspect, urge businesses to report incidents

Police are encouraging businesses in Esquimalt and Victoria to report shoplifting, mischief and other criminal offences that impact their operations.

Victoria police arrested a shoplifting suspect Monday after receiving a report of a theft in progress from a store on Broad Street. Retail staff told police a thief had run off, and directed officers to a residential housing facility in the 700-block of Pandora Avenue.

Officers recovered the ­stolen merchandise and arrested a suspect for theft under $5,000. The suspect already had an ­outstanding warrant for theft under $5,000.

Police are encouraging businesses in Esquimalt and Victoria to report shoplifting, mischief and other criminal offences that affect their operations.
