Victoria’s central library branch will be closed on Sunday, May 12, due to a planned power outage by sa国际传媒 Hydro.

The Greater Victoria Public Library return bins outside 735 Broughton St. will remain open during the one-day closure and hold pickup dates will be extended, the GVPL said in a statement on social media Friday.

With 45,000 square feet of space, the central branch is the largest location of the library system’s 12 branches.

It has been located at Broughton Street since 1990 after outgrowing a previous location on Yates Street.

At the time, the move was thought to be a temporary measure.

A 2015 assessment determined that the library building had been well maintained but many elements would need replacing in 10 years.
