Wind warning prompts Friday ferry-sailing cancellations

A wind warning from Friday night into early Saturday has led to the cancellation of two Friday-night ferry sailings.

sa国际传媒 Ferries called off the 8:15 p.m. sailing from Tsawwassen to Duke Point and the 10:45 p.m. sailing from Duke Point to Tsawwassen as a safety precaution.

The warning was issued for Greater Victoria, the southern Gulf Islands and eastern Vancouver Island from Nanaimo to Campbell River.

Environment sa国际传媒 said southeast winds could gust as high as 90 kilometres per hour in exposed coastal areas, with a possibility tree branches breaking and falling on power lines.
