About 7,000 sa国际传媒 Hydro customers on Vancouver Island were without power Wednesday morning, and sa国际传媒 Ferries cancelled several sailings on its Quadra Island routes due to high winds.
Weather warnings
Wind warnings have been lifted for Greater Victoria and parts of east Vancouver Island.
Environment sa国际传媒 had forecast high winds from Nanoose Bay to Campbell River and in Greater Victoria.
Peak southeast winds were e forecast to reach 70 kilometres an hour gusting to 90 km/h over exposed coastal areas and near Haro Strait.
Power outages
In Greater Victoria, almost 3,000 Wednesday morning, most in North Saanich and Central Saanich. Fallen trees were to blame in one of the two Saanich Peninsula outages. The power was back on in both cases by 2:40 p.m.
On the Island's west coast, 4,300 were without power in Ucluelet and Tofino Wednesday morning due to trees down across power lines. The Ucluelet outage affecting 1,838 customers was resolved by 9 a.m. Power was back on in Tofino at 2:46 p.m.
Another outage at 1:46 p.m. affected 366 in Campbell River.

sa国际传媒 Ferries between Campbell River and Quathiaski Cove on Quadra Island on Wednesday morning due to adverse weather conditions. Service resumed in the afternoon starting with the 1:05 p.m. departures from Campbell River and Quathiaski Cove.
Sailings between Whaletown (Cortes Island) and Heriot Bay (Quadra Island) were also cancelled in the morning due to forecast high winds. Service resumed with the 11:55 a.m. departure from Whaletown.
