TORONTO — Five things to watch for in the Canadian business world in the coming week:
BMO results
BMO Financial Group will report its third-quarter results on Tuesday, the last of the Big Six Canadian banks to report their results for the three-month period. Concerns about the economy and rising provisions for credit losses have been the dominant trend so far as the big banks have reported their results.
Couche-Tard results
Alimentation Couche-Tard will report its first-quarter results after the close of trading on Tuesday followed by a conference call with analysts on Wednesday morning. The company has been pointed to as a potential buyer depending on what Suncor Energy Inc., which is conducting a strategic review of its Petro-sa¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ gas stations, decides to do.
Economic report card
Statistics sa¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ will release gross domestic product figures for June and the second quarter as a whole on Wednesday. A preliminary estimate by the agency for June suggested real gross domestic product rose 0.1 per cent for the month, boosted by the construction, manufacturing, and accommodation and food services sectors.Â
Laurentian Bank resultsÂ
Laurentian Bank will release its third-quarter results and hold an analyst call. In its second quarter, the bank reported its most profitable quarter since 2018, helped by strength in commercial banking and capital markets, combined with a focus on cost management.
Home sales
August home sales figures from the Calgary Real Estate Board are expected on Thursday, while the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver is expected to release its figures on Friday. Home sales in sa¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ have ben cooling as higher mortgage rates have increased the cost of borrowing.
