Corus Entertainment Inc. said it has signed a deal to sell its Montreal-based animation software subsidiary Toon Boom Animation Inc. to Integrated Media Company (IMC) for $147.5 million in cash. Colin Bohm, executive vice-president of content and corporate strategy at Corus, said the move will free up capital, increase the company's financial flexibility and sharpen its focus. Toon Boom's software is used for animation, storyboarding and production management. Founded in 1994, Corus bought a 50 per cent stake in Toon Boom in 2004 and acquired the remaining interest in 2012.Â
Barrick Gold Corp. (TSX:ABX). Mining. Up three cents, or 0.13 per cent, to $23.07. Barrick Gold Corp. said it is on track to achieve its full-year copper and gold guidance after it sold one million ounces of gold and 101 million pounds of copper in the second quarter, based on its preliminary results. The sales came as preliminary second-quarter production figures totalled 1.01 million ounces of gold and 107 million pounds of copper. The mining giant said gold and copper production in 2023 is expected to increase, with the second half being higher than the first six months of the year.
