The 3,000 residents of this north Okanagan town will soon be served by only one doctor.

Back in June, the community had five physicians, but two retired and one moved to Vancouver.

The latest blow came this week, when another doctor announced he's closing his practice and moving to Saskatchewan.

Mayor Howie Cyr said the situation is very stressful to residents, especially seniors, and he and his council are working with the Interior Health Authority to solve the problem.

Dr. Alan Stewart of the authority said the organization hopes to recruit another doctor by next August. -
