Police investigating the death of a Toronto woman whose body parts were discovered scattered at opposite ends of the city have arrested her ex-boyfriend and charged him with her murder.
Guang Hua Liu, a 41year-old former spa owner and single mother of three, was reported missing on Aug. 11. Hikers discovered her foot floating in a river just west of Toronto four days later, and police found her head and two hands in the following days.
A subsequent search unearthed more body parts in the suburb of Scarborough, located in the city's east end.
Chunqi Jiang, a construction worker and recently estranged boyfriend of the victim, was arrested on Sunday and has been charged with second-degree murder.
"At this point we're classifying this as a domesticrelated homicide," Peel Police inspector George Koekkoek told reporters.
Peel Police, who oversee the region west of Toronto where the first parts were found, have been leading the investigation.
Koekkoek said investigators have yet to determine how Liu was killed or where the crime took place. As well, not all of her body has been discovered.
