A rescue officials said one person is dead and another is in hospital following the crash of a float plane east of Vancouver.
Capt. Erik Niemi of the Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre in Victoria said authorities don't know what caused the Cessna 172 to overturn on Pitt Lake, which is located near the community of Pitt Meadows.
But he said the plane was carrying two people and the accident took place around 4 p.m.
Niemi says one person was able to get out of the aircraft and was taken to hospital by medevac, but the body of the second person had to be removed by search-and-rescue technicians during the early evening.
He said authorities also don't yet know why one person was able to escape but the other wasn't.
Niemi said the RCMP and the Transportation Safety Board of sa国际传媒 will be investigating the incident.
