A Quebec provincial police officer is in critical condition after getting hit by a car during a speed trap operation north of Montreal.
Police spokesman Benoit Richard says the officer was struck on the side of a highway while walking back to his own vehicle after pulling over a car. Richard said the officer suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to nearby hospital.
The accident happened at about 2 p.m. near Bois-des-Filion, about 25 kilometres from Montreal.
The province introduced a move-over law in August that requires drivers to slow down and provide more room to emergency vehicles.
