TORONTO 鈥� Reports say Rob Ford did not officially enter the U.S. when he flew to Chicago last week after taking a leave of absence as Toronto mayor, but his lawyer says he is 鈥�100 per cent鈥� in rehab.
Ford left home last week after announcing plans to deal with his substance-abuse problems and at the time his lawyer Dennis Morris said he flew to Chicago, but was not in a program in that city.
The Globe and Mail reported today that when Ford landed in Chicago he voluntarily withdrew his application to enter the country and quotes the consul general of sa国际传媒 in Chicago as saying Ford 鈥渨as not denied entry, per se.鈥�
Morris would not comment on what happened in Chicago, but says he knows 鈥�100 per cent鈥� that the mayor is enrolled in a substance abuse program on an inpatient basis and is 鈥渄oing very well.鈥�
Ford left for rehab hours after the Globe and Mail reported that a drug dealer had shown two of its reporters video of Ford allegedly smoking what was said to be crack days earlier.
The Toronto Sun also published an audio recording of Ford at a bar making anti-gay remarks, using an ethnic slur, and saying he would like to 鈥渏am鈥� rival candidate Karen Stintz.
Morris has said it was not possible to know what was in the pipe seen in stills from the alleged new video.
